LITTLE ATHLETICS
NUNAWADING
TRACK AND FIELD
Track and Field runs from September through to March the follow year, and is followed by the Cross Country. Early in the season, athletes can also participate in a Region Relay competition (location changes yearly)
During the season open days athletes can compete at open days run by other centres and also have the opportunity to compete in Combined Event competitions.

Location: All normal competition meets are held at Bill Sewart Athletics Track, Burwood East.

When: Saturday meets start with a warm up at 8:45am sharp for all age groups.
Due to long weekends and State Competitions, Friday twilight meets start at 6.30pm for all age groups (please refer to our calendar for specific dates).

Events: Athletes are advised not to specialise. For optimal athletic development, we encourage all junior athletes to train and compete in all events – both track and field.

Athletes are encouraged to participate in the Region Relay Competition and also Region Track and Field Competition held throughout the year (refer to the calendar for dates). Athletes who qualify at these competitions are then able to compete at the State Competitions.

U6 On track program
Our younger age group athletes participate in the “On track” Program.
“On Track” is an athletic skills development specially designed to provide children in the Under 6 age group the fundamental motor skills of running, jumping, hopping and throwing in a non-competitive environment, whilst also focusing on active participation, learning and improving, having fun and experiencing excitement.
Our U6 athletes also participate in a competition format similar to the older U7-U17 Track & Field athletes, with events such as 70m, 100m, Long Jump and ShotPut being offered during normal competition days.

Dates: For competition dates and times, see the calendar page.
For training schedule, see the coaching and development page.
